Mindfulness is about being fully aware of what's happening in the here and now. Paying attention to the present with brave curiosity and loving non-judgement.

The practice of being mindful is being still in the moment, especially when things in your life are in disarray. Mindfulness doesn't prevent you from overreacting or becoming overwhelmed with negative emotions. However, it does help you stop from spiraling down a path of a prolonged inner battle with your thoughts, feelings, and negative emotions that trigger habitual responses. Mindfulness will help you break those triggering behaviors that don't serve you well.

Mindfulness is focused on the now, not about drifting away in the past or projecting thoughts into the future. Mindfulness is the acceptance of the person you are, just as you are, right where you are, with love.

Mindfulness is something that happens in your mind, but it doesn't just affect your thoughts, it affects your entire body.

Mindfulness is also checking in with your body to see how you're feeling. Being mindful is connecting with your emotions and body to see how you're feeling. Becoming more aware helps you become more in tune with your body, including the natural processes that happens without you even noticing, like breathing and your heartbeat.

Paying attention to your breathing can also have a relaxing effect to help relieve mental stress and anguish. Mindfulness can help center you in the middle of an emotional storm. When you are getting in your feelings, pay attention to your heartbeat to center you back on what matters most.

A mindfulness best practice is taking a moment to pause during your daily activities to do a holistic (body & mind) check-in.

How are your thoughts? Are you experiencing peace? If not, make an adjustment. Take a few deep breaths while checking with the different parts of your body. Do you have pain anywhere? Are you holding onto stress? Do you feel tension? If so, where do you feel it?

Now, it's time to figure out the why and take action to resolve these stresses in your body. Sometimes, a few more deep breaths can be all it takes to get centered. You may find that you need a few more moments, and that's OK. Take all the moments you need because your well-being is a priority. Work t to always show up as your full brilliant authentic self.

Then, resume your day in a more mindful and peaceful state.
