Juicing & Blending

for optimum health

As many of us are looking for new ways to improve our health and well-being. Juicing is a process that extracts juice from fruits and vegetables. This liquid contains many nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals. Juicing is an excellent way to increase your intake of these nutrient-rich foods.

When juicing, the machine extracts the juice (this is the water and most of the nutrients the produce contains), leaving behind the pulp. When blending, there is no left-over pulp. Blenders pulverize the whole produce to make a smoothie. Enjoy 20 recipes to get you started.

About Juicing & Blending

You've probably heard a lot about juicing but haven't really started. Maybe what you need is some additional information? Juicing is  part of a health and wellness lifestyle that has been around for years. Although there are several fresh-pressed juices on the shelf ready to drink, one of the best parts about juicing is making the juice yourself. Making juices at home, allows you to customize each to your taste preferences and individual needs. Ready to start juicing? Keep reading to discover the many benefits of juicing and how you can start today with the 20 recipes found in the Juicing and Blending for Optimum Health.

Juicing has a variety of benefits, including greater concentration of nutrients per ounce, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, and enhanced absorption of nutrients. It may also help people who have difficulty eating their vegetables to stomach the taste.

Be mindful when juicing you’re often missing out on important fiber. You could also be missing out on other important compounds present in the pulp and membranes of the produce.
With blending, you’re getting everything the fruit and vegetables have to offer. Note: the pulpy texture may be unappetizing to some.
In both cases, there is a caveat to all of the benefits - SUGAR. Doctors urge caution, particularly if weight loss is your goal because of the high sugar content.

Do your research to find a balanced diet to meet your need. and consult and trust healthcare professional.

Juicing removes the insoluble fiber – the pulp. Let's be clear, fiber is good for you. It keeps your digestive tract healthy and it slows down the absorption of sugar. But it also slows down the absorption of nutrients and some nutrients stay in the fiber. When you juice, you are extracting up to 70% of the nutrition right into your glass1, and without the insoluble fiber your body absorbs 100% of these nutrients. Please don't take our word for it. Do your research and consult trusted medical sources.

Juicing vs Blending

The difference between juicing and blending is what’s left out of the process.

With juicing, you’re essentially removing all fibrous materials, leaving only the liquid of the fruits and vegetables. With blending, you get it all — the pulp and fiber that bulks up the produce. This is where we begin to separate the benefits of the two options.

Juicing 101

more concentrated amounts of vitamins and nutrients
easier absorption of nutrients
some juices contain more sugar than sodas
lack of fiber, which is essential for healthy digestion, controlling blood sugar, and lowering risk of heart disease

Blending 101

blended fruits and vegetables retain all their fiber for healthy digestion
the fibrous parts of fruits and vegetables fill you up and also contain antioxidants

The good news is that mindful breathing is free, easy, and accessible to everyone. You can practice it almost anywhere. All you need is a spare 10–15 minutes where you won’t be interrupted. You could use your lunch break in the park or on the train during your commute — headphones are helpful. Use 1-3 minutes when necessary.

More About Blending

Understanding the real difference between juicing and blending to the right balance of nutrients.

The blending process does not extract nutrients and water the same way juicing does. Instead, it grinds up entire fruits and vegetables, which includes fiber and all. This will allow you to blend thicker kinds of vegetables, ones that may not work so well in a juicer. The end result is a smoothie which can fill you up for longer stretches of time. Adding ingredients that are loaded with nutrients can also make your smoothie an adequate substitute for a meal.

Blending is also a good way to get more green vegetables into your diet. The texture may not be completely smooth, but you are still packing your smoothie with a wealth of nutrients. Fiber remains in a smoothie, although the fact that it becomes blended does make it a little easier to digest. It also does not come with the potential spikes in blood sugar that are common in juicing.

Blending can also increase your protein intake as your ingredients do not have to be limited to fruits and vegetables. There is the option of adding various kinds of nuts to increase your protein. There is also the option of adding Omega 3 fatty acids in the form of flax or chia. It can make for a well-rounded meal alternative.
